In 1593, Tarnobrzeg was founded, as the residence of the regional Tarnowski family, whose head was Count Tarnów.

in 1655, the Jews of Tarnobrzeg were massacred.
In 1718, the wife of Count Tarnowski loaned the Jewish community 1,000 florin to build a synagogue.
In 1757. there was a blood libel, when several Jews were murdered, accused of killing a boy, who later returned to the town, and for whom Countess Tarnowski paid restitution to the town's Jewish population.
In 1772,Tarnobrzeg became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in the province of Galicia, and remained part of the empire until 1918

On September 17, 1939, the Germans occupied Tarnobrzeg.
In October, 1939, the Jews were robbed and expelled from Tarnobrzeg.
In July, 1942, the final liquidation of the Jews Tarnobrzegy took place.
