on 2/10/84, SS Birma was launched as Arundel Castle, for the Castle Mail SP Co.
Until 1905, she was used on the UK to South Africa service.

In 1894, Birma was built by Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Glasgow.

Narrative

SS Birma was was sold to the East Asiatic Co, Copenhagen, and used on Far East services.
In 190 she was transferred to the subsidiary company Russian American Line, Liepāja (Libau).
On December 8, 1908, she began her crossings from Liepāja (Libau) - New York, and her last sailing from Liepāja (Libau) to Halifax, Boston and New York started on November 18, 1913.

Narrative

In 1914, Birma was renamed Mitau, and on on December 12, 1914, started a single round voyage from Libau to Halifax and New York, and was then laid up at Kronstadt.
In 1921, she was sold to the Polish American Line, renamed Josef Pilsudski and on October 6, 1921, sailed New York - Danzig.
Arrested at Kiel for non-payment of repairs, she laid there until 1924, when she was sold to German owners, renamed Wilbo and scrapped the same year in Italy.
