Derazhnia Деражня is an important railway junction on the line Lviv-Khmelnytskyi-Zhmerynka.

Around 1750. the first Jews in Derazhnia were referred toin stories in Shivhei haBesht (stories about the Baal Shem Tov).

in the 1840s, Jewish agricultural colonies were established near Derazhnia.
The largest and most prosperous was Staro Zakrevsky Meidan, founded 1844, which continued until it was turned into a kolkhoz, Staro Meidan, by the Soviets in 1928.

On July 11, 1941, Derazhnia fell to Nazi forces during Operation Barbarossa.
Jews from Derazhnia and nearby towns were rounded up in Derazhnia Ghetto, including 200 Roma, from nearby Volkovintsi.
On September 20, 1942, 4,000 people were shot, and- the entire Jewish community perished.
