Narrative

In September, 1941, Εθνικό Απελευθερωτικό Μέτωπο ELAS-EAM, a Communist-sponsored resistance organization, was formed.
In December, 1942, the military wing was formed, operating in occupied Greece during World War II, fighting the Germans and the Italians, as well as against other guerrilla bands.

Narrative

By October. 1944, the Germans evacuated Greece, and Εθνικό Απελευθερωτικό Μέτωπο ELAS-EAM controlled about two-thirds of the country.
In December, 1944, the new government ordered Εθνικό Απελευθερωτικό Μέτωπο ELAS-EAM to disarm, but they refused, causing an outbreak of hostilities in Athens Αθήνα, mainly with the British.

Narrative

Εθνικό Απελευθερωτικό Μέτωπο ELAS-EAM organized the escape of Greek Jews from the Euboea Peninsula by fishing boats to Turkey and from there to Palestine, by way of temporary internment in British military camps in Aleppo, for interrogation by British intelligence agents.
Some three thousand Jews were saved through the boat movement, jointly coordinated by the Mossad LeAliyah Bet and Εθνικό Απελευθερωτικό Μέτωπο ELAS-EAM.
