In July, 1944, 67,000 Łódz Jews, knowing the Red Army was nearby, and hoping they would be liberated in days. were transported to Auschwitz, while the Warszawa Uprising was taking place, and were gassed upon arrival.

In January, 1945, the Wierzbnik Jews, Łódz Jews, and other Jews were force marched from Auschwitz to labor camps in Germany, where they remained until the end of the war.
Hundreds died in a matter of a few months.
