Narrative

In his will the Jewish philanthropist, Sir Ellis Kadoorie, member of the wealthy Baghdadi family that had large business interests in the Far East, donated 100,000 British pounds to be used for the development of education in Palestine.
In 1880, Ellis Kadoorie arrived in Shanghai from Bombay, as an employee of the Sephardi Jewish firm David Sassoon & Sons.
The Kadoorie brothers made their fortunes in banking, rubber plantations, electric power utilities and real estate, and gaining a major share-holding in Hong Kong Hotels Limited.
In the 1910s, Sir Ellis Kadoorie founded several schools in China and Hong Kong, among them are Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School - West Kowloon, and Shanghai Yucai High school.
Sir Ellis Kadoorie's will did not state that the beneficiary was the British administration in Palestine, but specifically, the British government in London, and Kadoorie had granted it the choice of whether to invest in Palestine or Iraq.
Haim Weizmann managed at least to obtain a decision that the sum be invested in Palestine.
Herbert Samuel established a committee to determine how to use the money, resulting in two agricultural schools named after Kadoorie, built with these funds, one for Arabs and one for Jews.

Narrative

Nathan Fiat, the first principal of the Kaduri Agricultural High School, lead the "honour code examinations, and concentrated in the subjects of agriculture and security.
The school was known as The monastery, given its secluded location, and attendance was restricted to boys.
During the Israeli War of Independence, many of the school's students and graduates fought in the Palmach, and were part of the chain of the command.
