Narrative

On May 12, 1948, Alonei Abba אלוני אבא Abba's Oaks was established by young Zionist pioneers from Czechoslavakia, Austria and Romania, members of haNoar haTzioni, on what was formerly called Waldheim, a colony founded in 1907, by German Christians affiliated with the Prussian evangelical church, on land purchased from the village of Umm al-Amed.
When World War II began, the British interned most of the enemy aliens, Germans, Hungarians and Italians, converting Sarona, Bethlehem of Galilee, Waldheim, and Wilhelma into internment camps.
They named the settlement established kibbutz haMaavak.

Narrative

In 1951, the kibbutz became a moshav shitufi מושב שיתופי, and the name was changed to Alonei Abba אלוני אבא, in memory of Abba Berdichev.
