In 1948, kibbutz Nachsholim קיבוץ נחשולים was established by immigrants from Turkey and Israelis, on the land of the Arab village of Tantura طنطورة, whose residents were expelled or fled to Furaydis فـُرَيـْدِيس.
In 1891, Baron Rothschild had established a bottle factory in Tantura طنطورة, to produce wine bottles for the Caramel Mizrahi כרמל מזרחי Winery, run by Meir Dizengoff .
When the bottle factory closed after 5 years, the Jewish settlers left the area.
In 1930, James de Rothschild donated 200 dunam to Dr. Meir Gurevichof the Jewish Legion, and Chairman of the Water Committee to establish the first Hebrew fishing village, settled by Subbotniks Субботники.

In 1948, Hanan Jakobovicz and Miriam joined a group of young refuges who came to Israel from Sverige, and established kibbutz Nachsholim., and stayed there for 6 years.
