Narrative

In 1925, the Haifa Bay Develpment Company חברת הכשרת מפרץ חיפה acquired 40,000 dunam, from the Sursok family, from the foot of the Carmel mountain to Acco, called Emek Gidro עמק ג'ידרו.
The land, named after the Arab village, Gidro ג'ידרו, which used stand there, was full of swamps and malaria.

Narrative

In 1928, Keren Kayemet קרן הקיימת acquired some of the land in Emek Gidro עמק ג'ידרו from the Haifa Bay Development Company חברת הכשרת מפרץ חיפה, and began preparation to establish worker's neighborhoods.
Those who wanted to live there signed up, establishing a member's organization of 300 people, including train workers, postal workers, electricity-company workers and workers from the Shemen factory.
Kiryat Haim קריית חיים, named after Chaim Arlosoroff, was the first Kirya built in Emek Gidro, and became known as The Mother of all Kiryas הקריות.
