In 1937, the Nazis constructed Buchenwald Concentration Camp, near Weimar.
The camp was built by the prisoners.
During the summer of 1937, the SS forced the prisoners to carry huge stones from the quarry to the camp.
Over the camp's main entrance gate, was the slogan Jedem das Seine to each his own, or figuratively Everyone gets what he Deserves.
The official goal of Buchenwald was the destruction of the prisoners by work.
Thousands of prisoners were murdered in Buchenwald, by work, torture, beatings, or simply starvation and lack of hygiene.
