Narrative
During the Israeli War of Independence מלחמת העצמאות, Kiryat Anavim קיבוץ קריית ענבים and nearby kibbutz Maale HaHamisha קיבוץ מעלה החמישה were the site of a battle for Mount Haganah in between, between the Palmach פלמ"ח, including troops that retreated from the Radar Hill גבעת הרדאר, and the Transjordanian Arab Legion.
Many fell in the struggle to open the road to Jerusalem ירושלים and to protect the settlement itself.
Narrative
On May 25, 1948, the Jordanian Arab Legion attacked Kiryat Anavim קריית ענבים in force, and reached the settlement fence.
After a tough battle, the offensive was stopped about one kilometer north of the settlement.
