On Wednesday 11 January 1961, David Dadoune and his two children sailed from Casablanca on Egoz Pisces.
He had been caught with a fake passport at the Casablanca airport, and was going to join his wife and two other boys already in Israel.

Egoz אגוז Pisces sailed out to sea, but despite the fact the forecast had been checked for good weather, the waves became rough. Yet all checks had been made and the forecast had been for good weather.
At 3:00AM GMT, ten miles from the Moroccan coast, the hull of Egoz אגוז Pisces split 'like a nutshell', and sank within five minutes.
Captain Francisco Morilla and two sailors managed to escape in the only lifeboat.

Twenty-two corpses were found floating on the surface wearing inadequate life jackets, but the wreck of Egoz Pisces, itself, and the bodies of 20 passengers, including 16 children, were never found.
The 22 bodies were buried in a far corner of the Spanish cemetery of Al Hoceima الحسيمة.

After years of negotiations, King Hassan II gave his permission for the bones from the shipwreck to be repatriated to Israel, and they were given a state funeral at Mount Herzl הר הרצל‎ in Jerusalem ירושלים, on 14 December 1992.
