In June, 1941, David Azrylewicz escaped from Luniniec hidden in a hay cart after the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union, and worked in a collective farm.

David Azrylewicz lost his parents, younger brother and sister in the Shoah.
At age 17 years, he fled occupied Poland to Uzbekistan.

David Azrylewicz reached Iran, and then escaped to Iraq, disguised as an Arab deaf-mute.

David Azrylewicz and Adam Vogeil were hidden by members of the Hechalutz Underground Movement, in a synagogue in Baghdad, and were smuggled to Palestine by Moshe Dayan and Enzo Sereni, concealed on a bus that smuggled weapons into Palestine, hidden in coffins.

David Azrieli, age 75 years, received his Master in architecture, from Carleton University.
In 2008, he donated $5.5-million to Carleton University, and the architecture school the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism.

David Azrieli earned a BA, from the Thomas More Institute, Université de Montréal.

In 1943, David Azrieli studied architecture at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology הטכניון – מכון טכנולוגי לישראל, but did not complete his studies

In October, 1934, Avraham Akavia was admitted to the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology הטכניון – מכון טכנולוגי לישראל, just short of his 18th birthday.
In 1938, Avraham Akavia earned his BSc, Civil Engineering.

David Azrieli lived in South Africa, England where he manufactured Venetian blinds,and the United States, before settling in Canada.
