Andor Guttmann, and his younger sister, Kato, joined a Jewish youth group, left Hungary for refuge in a Displaced Persons' Camp in the American Zone in Germany.

 
Boat April, 1948    

Event Note

After two and a half years in the DP Camp, Andor Guttmann and sister, Kato, joined other Holocaust survivors on the boats ships sailing for Palestine.
But Andor was suspected of having contracted tuberculosis, and was quarantined in a German sanatorium, and had to wait for another opportunity to sail.
