Event Note

Emil Sandström succeeded Folke Bernadotte as President of Svenska Röda korset (Swedish Red Cross).
From 1950 to 1959, he served as chairman of Röda korset the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Emil Sandström served as judge in the Supreme Court, at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in Den Hague, as well as at the mixed courts that existed in Egypt, and settled disputes between Egyptians and foreigners.

Event Note

From June 16, 1947 to July 24, 1947, The United Nations Special Committee sat in Jerusalem, and took statements in secret, from the Palestine Government, and in public, from the Jewish Agency Executive, Chaim Weizmann, and representatives of other Jewish organization.
The Committee was officially boycotted by the Arab Higher Committee, but statements were presented in Beirut بيروت‎, on behalf of the Arab states.
