Yaakov Shertok was the first to arrive in Palestine, preceding the first group of 14 BILU'im by a few weeks.
On July 6, 1882, the group, led by Belkind, reached Yafo.

Shertok himself married Zippora Meirov, who was the sister of Shaul Avigur - a founder of the Labor Movement in the Land of Israel and of the security establishment."

Following the Operation Agatha, the British interned David Remez, Moshe Sharett, Yitzhak Gruenbaum, Dov Yosef, Mr. Shenkarsky, David Hacohen, and Mr. Halpern in the Latrun Detention Camp.

In 1949, Yaakov Meridor, one of the founders of Herut, was elected to the Knesset in Israel's first elections.

In 1949, Moshe Sharett was on the Mapai מפא"י‎ list to the First Knesset, and served as a MK Member of the Knesset until and throughout the Fifth Knesset, in 1961.
