Edmond Wilhelm Brillant served in the Red-Sea Theater aboard HMS Massawa at Eritrea and other naval bases, and became a pilot’s duties volunteer.
In 1944, his commanding officers at HMS Massawa recommended him to be commissioned, and assisted in applying for aviator training of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm FAA., which he did not get since the Colonial Office forbade access to aviation training for Jewish volunteers from Palestine.
