Event Note

On September 1, 1939, Zvi Unger and his family fled Sosnowiec, for a safer district in Poland.
In 1941, Zvi and two of his brothers were sent to stay with relatives in the Swierzawa Ghetto.

Camp September, 1945 Auschwitz II-Birkenau Konzentrationslager Birkenau, Brzezinka, powiat Oświęcimski, województwo Małopolskie, Polska  

Event Note

In January 1945, Zvi Unger was sent on a death march to Germany.
After ten days, he and fellow prisoners were put on a train for Buchenwald.
On April, 11, 1945, he was liberated when the American troops marched into Buchenwald.
Zvi Unger was the lone surviving member of his family.
