After World War II, the American military administration set up a DP camp in the former sanatorium in Strüth to house Displaced Persons, in additon to a children's home.
The camp housed children belonging to Dror Habonim and the haShomer haTzair, and two kibbutzim that had been set up by Jewish charities.
