Haapalah / Aliyah Bet

After the First Aliyah in 1882, two new Jewish neighborhoods were founded:
* 1997, Neve Tzedek נווה צדק
* 1890, Neve Shalom נווה שלום
On August 1, 1890, Zerach Barnett זרח ברנט, a member of Hovevei Zion חובבי ציון‎, and who had helped found Mea Shearim מאה שערים‎and Petach Tikvah פתח תקווה, built a row of houses in Neve Shalom נווה שלום and sold them at low prices.
Zerach Barnett זרח ברנט, having sold his home in Petach Tikvah פתח תקווה, made his permanent residence in the new community, along with Rabbi Naftali Herz Halevy נפתלי הרץ הלוי.

In 1906, the Avtonomia School was established in Neve Shalom נווה שלום.
The Sha’arei Torah talmud torah was founded by Rabbi Naftali Herz Halevy נפתלי הרץ הלוי in Neve Shalom נווה שלום, and to which, was added the first vocational school, where mechanical engineering and handcrafts were taught, combining Torah with learning a trade.

In 1948, ITzL אצ"ל soldiers shelled Jaffa יפו from Neve Shalom נווה שלום.

on May 1, 1921, British police permitted a group of Labor-Zionists to hold a May Day parade, but denied the same privilege to Jewish Communists, who rallied anyway in Neve Shalom נווה שלום.
When the groups began fighting, the British policey chased demonstrators through the winding, narrow lanes of Neve Shalom נווה שלום, while turning a blind eye to the Arabs massing in Jaffa יפו‎‎, who brandished clubs, knives, hatchets and metal pipes and chanted "itbach al-Yahud (kill the Jews)!"
