Shmuel Izban authored around twenty books on Zionism and Israel, all in Yiddish.
Until settling in America, in 1937, at age 32 years, Shmuel Izban was one of the Yishuv's more notable Yiddish authors,whose earliest writing dealt with local Arab life.
He wrote for Der morgn-zhurnal, and later Der tog.

Shmuel Izban, who sailed on the blockade runner, Hatikvah, was sent to Cyprus.
After being detained for 10 days, he revealed he was an American correspondent for the Jewish Journal, New York Yiddish daily.
He was returned to Palestine, and was jailed for three days, and refused permission to see his brothers and sister, and then, deported to the United States.
