Built: 1923 by Swan Hunter for the French line, Cie. Générale Transatlantique (CGT), Paris, to be used on the Saint-Nazaire-West Indies-Vera Cruz route.
Tonnage: 11,300 tons gross

In 1940, SS Cuba was intercepted by a British warship, and used as a transport under Cunard management.

Narrative

In the morning of Wednesday, April 6, 1945, SS Cuba, in Convoy VW16 steaming towards Portsmouth, was torpedoed and sunk by U-1195.
She went down by the stern in 30 meters of water, and of the 250 crew, only two were lost.
The U-Boat, U-1195, was also sunk while sitting on the sea bed at 32 meters trying to evade the British destroyer, HMS Watchman.
