Yaakov Weiss, Avshalom Haviv, Meir Nakar were עולי הגרדום "Those hanged on the gallows".
After they were sentenced to death for their role in the Akko Prison Break, ETZL kidnapped two off duty British military policemen, Clifford Martin and Mervyn Paice, in Netanyah.
ETZL announced that hanging the three ETZL members would result in the hanging of the British soldiers.
On July 30, 1947, when the British carried out the death sentences, ETZL carried out their threat.
Clifford Martin and Mervyn Paice were found hung in Netanyah, their bodies booby-trapped with a homemade bomb.
