From February 11, 1943 until early 1944, Lieutenant R.H.C. Wyld served aboard the Royal Navy Destroyer, HMS Echo (H 23)., which saw action during Operation Husky off Sicily.
On July 13, 1943, the submarine, Neride, was sunk by HMS Echo and HMS Lex, off Sicily.
